Who We Are
Golfkit Oy is a Finnish company developing digital golf tools to enhance the playing experience. This privacy policy explains how we collect and handle personal data in the Golfkit mobile app.
What Data We Collect
We may collect the following types of data:
- Account Information: Your name and email address (used to create and manage your account and to communicate with you about the service).
- Usage & App Interactions (may be anonymous/aggregated): Screens viewed, taps, feature usage, course selections, and related events. This helps us diagnose issues and understand feature usage for Golfkit and, in de-identified/aggregated form, the golf club/course being used.
- Crash Logs & Diagnostics (may be anonymous/aggregated): Error reports, stack traces, performance metrics (e.g., load times, app start time, network failures) used to improve stability and performance.
- Other App Performance Data (may be anonymous/aggregated): Device performance signals (e.g., OS version, device model, app version, storage/connection state) used for troubleshooting and optimization.
- Device Information: Device type, operating system, and app version.

Location Data
What we collect. With your permission, the Golfkit app may collect your device's precise (and/or approximate) location while you use the app. Location is collected ephemerally—we do not persist it longer than necessary for the feature to work.
Why we collect it. We use location solely to place you accurately on the golf course map and provide distance and course-positioning features. We do not use location for advertising.
How it's used and shared. Location is processed on-device/in-service to enable in-app features and is not sold. We do not share precise location with third parties for their independent marketing purposes.
Retention. Location data is used in real time and not retained longer than necessary to provide the feature. Any cached data is routinely cleared.
Your choices. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings. Doing so may limit distance and positioning features.
Legal bases (EEA/UK only). Our legal basis is your consent (when you grant device location permission) and/or our legitimate interest in providing accurate course features.
How We Use Your Data
We use your data to:
- Provide access to golf course content and core features.
- Track course downloads and app interactions to understand usage.
- Diagnose crashes, errors, and performance issues to improve the app.
- Communicate account-related changes or updates.
Cookies and Analytics
We use analytics and crash-reporting tools to gather anonymized or aggregated usage statistics, crash logs, diagnostics, and performance data. We do not use tracking cookies in the app. Limited data may be shared with analytics/service providers solely to operate, secure, and improve the service.
Third-Party Services
Some golf courses or images in the app may link to or embed third-party content. These third parties may collect their own data according to their policies. We also use infrastructure/analytics providers (e.g., cloud storage/CDN, crash reporting) to operate the app.
Data Sharing
We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties unless required by law.
Golf Club Admin Panel Access
If your golf club uses the Golfkit admin panel, authorised Golfkit staff may sign in to that panel to provide support or fix an issue — normally at the club's request. Every such access, along with key changes made to a club's account, is recorded in an activity log the club can view, and the club is notified by email when staff access their panel.
Your Rights
You can request to:
- View, update, or delete your account data.
- Request erasure of your account.

Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as you use the app. If you delete your account, your personal data will be removed, except where required for legal obligations. Crash logs, diagnostics, and performance data are kept only as long as necessary for troubleshooting and service improvement; aggregated, de-identified statistics may be retained for trend analysis.
